I have a new favorite theater: the Capitol Theater in Arlington. I had never been there before Friday and Matthew and I wanted to see Prarie Home Companion and it was one of the few theaters in the area that still had it. 1)Since it was a matinee, the tickets were cheap: only $4.75! Regular tickets are only $6.50! 2)Food was also cheap, only $2.50 for a small popcorn that was the size of a medium at other theaters 3)There was no lot [the only negative] but plenty of off-street parking. Though because of the storm trees had fallen across the road of the two streets next to us, but luckily not ours. 4)I didn't even have to feel cheap asking for tap water: they had a pitcher of cold water and cups on the food counter! 5)Even though it's a really old theater, there was half stadium, half traditional seating.
So yeah, the theater rocked. And the movie was mediocre (the songs were good but the plot was stupid), but it was about what I expected.
Last night I saw Clerks II. I wasn't too big of a fan of Clerks (I don't like movies without a plot), but the EW review said it had "some plot" so that was enough for me! The movie was enjoyable and better than the first (because of the plot, of course) and Jay still cracks me up. He's so zany.
No other movies for a while but I'm seeing Debbi in As You Like It tonight. Wish her a happy birthday if you see her (and, er, know her), her bday's tomorrow!
